SIDEKICK DATA HANDLER

The SIDEKICK pod is an easy to use, reconfigurable, autonomous data handler able to perform advanced tasks or missions.
SIDEKICK gives you the ability to deploy your specific combination of oceanic sensors, with ease, efficiency and with confidence.
Done with that mission? Just reconfigure and deploy with another set of instruments.

SIDEKICK is more than a data logger! It can be a controller, and a decision-maker. It can be autonomous and/or be queried or broadcast info. Have you developed your own MatLab, LabView or Python code and would like to run it as you acquire data in real-time and in-situ? SIDEKICK is able to do such integration.
All SIDEKICK Data Handlers are able to distribute power to instruments and manage data. Data management can be done locally with our loggers, in the lab when using a telemetry solution, or a combination of both: when the telemetry bandwidth is limited, most data can be stored locally while some information can be sent topside.

SIDEKICK Logger
An autonomous solution equipped with an external drive for data storage

SIDEKICK Telemetry
The instrument payload is interfaced with telemetry cards (such as single mode fiber-optic media-converter cards from Moog, Inc) and all data is sent topside. In most cases, all instruments can be reached individually. Such solutions allow real-time viewing and control.

SIDEKICK Hybrid
For use with tethers with limited bandwidth. Only the data you select is sent topside. All instruments are logged locally.
A typical tether would support Ethernet over twisted-pair or coaxial connections. The SIDEKICK data handler can also be seamlessly integrated with existing systems like the Sea-Bird Scientific SBE911plus CTD.
